Nginx TLS 1.3 Finally Here

Latest Centmin Mod 123.09beta01's Nginx 1.15.3+ now supports TLS v1.3 with two cryptographic libraries that can be built with Centmin Mod Nginx. Instructions for Nginx compiled with either BoringSSL or OpenSSL 1.1.1.

Nginx 1.11 + OpenSSL 1.1 + TLS 1.3

Great news for Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.09 beta01 users. Akamai is sponsoring OpenSSL TLS 1.3 development for release on April 5th, 2017 in OpenSSL 1.1.0 branch which is an OpenSSL branch optionally supported by Centmin Mod 123.09beta01's Nginx 1.11 setup where you can switch between default Nginx 1.11 + LibreSSL crypto library and Nginx 1.11 + OpenSSL 1.0.2/1.1 branches (with BoringSSL support in development as well).

Nginx 1.11.6 Compatibility Update

Updated both Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.08 stable and 1.2.3-eva2000.09 beta01 branches for Nginx 1.11.6 defaults & compatibility fixes for OpenResty Nginx Modules. For existing Centmin Mod Nginx users, use centmin.sh menu option 4 to update Nginx to 1.11.6. You will need to use centmin.sh menu option 23 submenu option 2 to update your local Centmin Mod code to latest versions before running centmin.sh menu option 4 otherwise Nginx 1.11.6 update will fail to complete.

Updated both Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.08 stable and 1.2.3-eva2000.09 beta01 branches for Nginx 1.11.1 defaults for security updates (CVE-2016-4450). For existing Centmin Mod Nginx users, use centmin.sh menu option 4 to update Nginx to 1.11.1. You may want to use centmin.sh menu option 23 submenu option 2 to update your local Centmin Mod code to latest versions before running centmin.sh menu option 4.

Security Vulnerability Updates for ImageMagick, OpenSSL & LibreSSL

Centmin Mod LEMP stack users have 3 security updates they need to do for ImageMagick, OpenSSL & LibreSSL. You will want to update to latest code base for either Centmin Mod 123.08stable or 123.09beta01 via centmin.sh menu option 23 before following the steps listed below to update ImageMagick and recompile PHP-FPM (centmin.sh menu option 5 & option 15) and recompile Nginx against newer fixed OpenSSL 1.0.2h or LibreSSL 2.3.4 (centmin.sh menu option 4).

Forum users who elected to receive forum announced emails, would have gotten an email recently for these three security alerts. To ensure these emails reach your inbox, please add the email's from address to your contact list and for Gmail/Google App users setup a filter to mark emails from that sent forum email address as 'Not Spam'. This will ensure you properly receive such Centmin Mod and CentOS related security updates which are relevant to your Centmin Mod LEMP stack install.

Nginx 1.9.12 Compatibility Updates

Updated both Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.08 stable and 1.2.3-eva2000.09 beta01 branches for Nginx 1.9.12 incompatibility with LibreSSL. So switched back to Nginx compiled against OpenSSL 1.0.2f and higher. Official PHP 7.0.0 GA support

Updated both Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.08 stable and 1.2.3-eva2000.09 beta01 branches for official PHP 7.0 GA release supported downloads. Prior, when you entered PHP version 7.0.0 on centmin.sh menu option 5 for PHP upgrades, it would download from PHP 7 Github based master dev branch. The recent update now changes that to download officially from php.net hosted source tarball files when PHP version specified during upgrades is equal to 7.0.0 and higher.

Centmin Mod Updates and .09 beta testing with Nginx HTTP/2

Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.09 beta (123.09beta01 branch) testing has begun. Nginx HTTP/2 page and HTTP/1.1 vs HTTP/2 benchmarks have been added here. The first major addition is added support for Nginx's new HTTP/2 alpha patch which supports ALPN TLS extensions for h2 protocol. Installing the Nginx HTTP/2 patch or final releases will remove SPDY module support in Nginx. Unfortunately, the HTTP/2 patch or first production release will not support HTTP/2 Server Push feature but future versions may. The Nginx HTTP/2 patch was cosponsored by Dropbox and Automattic. HTTP/2 protocol will be replacing Google's SPDY protocol in early 2016.

Centmin Mod 1.2.3-eva2000.08 stable release also has had a few minor updates listed on the dedicated forum thread.
